The violence triggered by the disputed 29 June 20151, 21 July 20152 and 24 July 20153 elections continues to be recorded in Burundi. International and regional community have raised concerns with the continued violence, which has included torture, enforced disappearances, extra judicial killings among other crimes. The extent of such crimes have triggered concerns that such crimes might constitute grave crimes which should be investigated by the International Criminal Court (ICC). The relationship between the African Union and ICC is constrained, however as matters stands, violations continue with impunity.
