In what was termed as “march for show of strength”, hundreds of Imbonerakure militiamen wearing colorful sportswear gathered and marched in Muramvya last Saturday 15 July 2017. They sung several songs, confirming that there is no other candidate for the fourth presidential term but Pierre Nkurunziza.

EU Parliament warns Burundi Again

An assessment by the European Union Parliament of the situation in Burundi on 5 July 2017 led to the adoption of a resolution  that raised concerns over the human rights, humanitarian situation and the political situation in Burundi. The European Parliament was particularly alarmed by the dangers of  the amending the constitution that is mainly motivated by 4th presidential  term of President Pierre Nkurunziza.

Grim Independence Day

9th July marked 6 years of independence for South Sudan but the country cancelled the national celebrations due to economic crisis that the country is facing. President Salva Kiir said during a speech to commemorate the 6 years of independence that his administration did not find it appropriate to spend the little funds they had to celebrate when people cannot afford meals.

Rebels accuse government of recruiting refugees

The deputy spokesperson of the armed opposition faction led by Riek Macher, Lam Paul made a claim that the Juba government was recruiting civilians and students from the refugee settlements in Northern Uganda.
